Howard Stern and Beth Ostrosky Wed

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Weddings,

Howard Stern and Beth OstroskyAfter eight years together, shock jock and girlfriend Beth Ostrosky finally wed in New York last night. The two - engaged since Valentine’s Day 2007 - celebrated their nuptials in a star-studded affair.

Although the Hamptonites had originally planned to marry outside the city, the couple eventually opted for Manhattan’s Le Cirque restaurant. Ostrosky, 36, told People, “We’re going to get our friends together at a restaurant, very low-key.” (And by low-key, she meant only 180 guests.)

Celebrities present at yesterday’s ceremony include Joan Rivers, , Barbara Walters, Adam Carolla, Robin Quivers, Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman. Mark Consuelos, Kelly Ripa’s finer half, presided over the service while Billy Joel performed two songs.

This is the first marriage for Ostrosky and the second for Stern. Howard, 54, has three daughters with ex-wife Alison Berns. Alison was one of the topics of his autobiography (and movie) Private Parts.

A New Wrinkle in the Anna Nicole Smith Saga

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Reality, Talent, Gossip, Rumors,

Anna Nicole Smith Just when you thought the headlines were over and everyone was going to get back to their lives, Blonde Ambition: The Untold Story Behind Anna Nicole Smith’s Death had to come along and give us something new to gossip about. The book will hit stores Tuesday, and the fur has already started to fly. The text of the novel alleges that , who won the paternity case for Anna’s surviving child Dannielynn, and , who claimed to have a deep love relationship with Anna, are both planning to sue the book’s author Rita Cosby. Here’s why: the book alleges that Stern and Birkhead shared a sexual encounter before Anna Nicole’s death, then worked together to manipulate the media and glean profits from the tragedy. Birkhead admits he has not seen the book, but in a bold statement told the AP this will be “the most expensive lawsuit settlements in book publishing history.” Yowzah.

Stern has stated that he will aggressively pursue a libel case. Stern’s attorney is calling the book pure fiction. Cosby stands behind her book and her sources, saying the text of the book was run past attorneys and the publishing house prior to publication. The book is filled with allegations concerning a “secret deal” between Stern and Birkhead, though Birkhead says the timing of the book (the week marks the anniversary of Daniel’s death and Dannielynn’s birth) was calculated. Cosby says she wrote the book specifically for Dannielynn…though it isn’t likely the baby knows quite how to read just yet, and the subject matter surely won’t be appropriate for her until a decade or two has passed.

XM Radio and Sirius Promote New Pricing Tiers

XM Radio logo

As part of the effort to have their merger approved by the , former satellite radio rivals and introduced eight new pricing tiers they feel will be popular with current and new subscribers.  Included is an “A la Carte” option that allows listeners to choose up to 50 channels from one service, for $6.99/month, almost half the current $12.99 fee. However, “premium” channels (assumed to be the sports, Oprah and Howard Stern channels) will not be included. Another “A la Carte” option allows listeners to choose up to 100 stations (including “premium”), from both services, for $14.99. The catch? Pre-merger subscribers who choose either option will have to buy a new receiver. There are 6 other options, including one geared toward families and one for sports fans—that don’t require buying a new receiver. The two companies hope the FCC will approve their merger by the end of the year. As a subscriber to XM Radio for nearly 2 years, this writer is very enthusiastic about the proposed pricing, even if it means purchasing a new radio.

Sanjaya a Hot Blog Topic

Sanjaya Malakar You’ve got to hand it to American Idol contestant Sanjaya Malakar—what he lacks in talent, he certainly makes up for in media exposure. He’s the talk of entertainment news shows and web sites, and of course, great fodder for blog discussions. Research firm Nielsen BuzzMetrics has seen significant references to the hairstyle chameleon, reporting that from February 18th to April 8th, there has been a 338% increase in blog references. With each passing week, even more chatter about Sanjaya is online—with many speculating how long he can survive in the contest and if Howard Stern is having any impact on voting. No one could have predicted that he would have made it this far, and every week he seems a step closer to getting the boot. But he’s been safe every week, despite others delivering stronger performances. Simon Cowell has even threatened to quit Idol if Sanjaya wins. Who knows, maybe that threat is what’s motivating people to vote for Sanjaya?
